Senate Eyeing Domestic Air Travel Vaccine Mandate

If you are one of the many Americans who’ve chosen to forego receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, there is a good chance that your quality of life is beginning to change.

You see, in lieu of a federal, across-the-board vaccine mandate, the Biden administration has focused their efforts on making sure that federal employees are inoculated, as well as employees of companies with more than 100 folks on the payroll.  Other than that, any sort of mandates that we’ve seen have been largely in the private sector.

That could all change in the coming days.

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein on Wednesday introduced the U.S. Air Travel Public Safety Act, which would require all passengers on domestic airline flights to either be fully vaccinated, have recently tested negative for COVID-19 or have fully recovered from the disease.

The bill would require the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to develop national vaccination standards and procedures related to COVID-19 and domestic air travel.

In addition, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices would be required to make recommendations for COVID-19 vaccine use in health care settings and among health care personnel in different settings.

The move would once again add a layer of difficulty to the lives of Americans who’ve made the sovereign choice to abstain from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, and could continue the disturbing trend of treating the unvaccinated as though they are second class citizens.
