Skywatchers in Ukraine Say UFO's are 'Everywhere' as War Rages

If you were to take modern pop culture at its word, the global UFO phenomenon was kicked off by the alleged crash of a flying saucer in the desert outside of Roswell, New Mexico back in 1947.  This incident remains one of the great mysteries of American history, particularly as it pertains to the US government’s involvement in the story.

But the true impetus of the UFO story began just a few years earlier, as pilots steering their warbirds over Europe reported on so-called “foo fighters” following their missions.  These strange lights appeared keenly interested in observing the action, and performed aerial feats that left even the most experienced pilots perplexed.

Now, another conflict, far to the east of Europe’s last great war, are reporting a similar abundance of unexplained aerial phenomena.

Ukrainian astronomers say the skies over their war-torn country are crowded not only with Russian missiles, but a large number of UFOs.

The surprising claims were outlined in a new research paper published by the Main Astronomical Observatory of Ukraine’s National Academy of Science.

The paper, titled “Unidentified area phenomena I. Observations of events,” claims that researchers have detected numerous UFOs from two meteor observation stations in Kyiv and the village of Vinarivka, about 75 miles outside the capital.

The claims were wild, to say the least.

“We see them everywhere. We observe a significant number of objects whose nature
is not clear,” the authors of the paper write. “Flights of single, group and squadrons of the ships were detected, moving at speeds from 3 to 15 degrees per second.”

The sheer number of sightings has warranted serious classification efforts.

Ukrainian scientists involved in the study described two different types of UFOs, which they call “cosmics” and “phantoms.”

According to the paper, a “cosmic” is a luminous object that appears brighter than the background of the sky, while a “phantom” is a dark object with “a completely black body that does not emit and absorbs all the radiation falling on it.”

The proximity of UFO sightings to military hardware is hardly new, with US officials having long complained of inexplicable incidents at some of our nation’s most highly secure sites.
