Tennessee Nixes Capacity Restrictions For Restaurants And Retail Businesses

Tennessee has issued some new guidelines for businesses in the wake of the coronavirus crisis, and it’s extremely good news for restaurants and retail stores who are in desperate need of revenue. The state is planning on ending capacity restrictions on for both of these industries as well as allowing noncontact attractions to open up in 89 of the 95 counties in the state.

This includes museums, amusement parks, zoos, large museums, and theaters.

Social distancing guidelines still apply despite the lifting of the restrictions.

Here’s more from The Washington Examiner:

Although the state will allow any number of people to be in restaurants and businesses, it will maintain its social distancing guidelines. Restaurants still will be asked to keep tables 6 feet apart, and every business and attraction is urged to enforce social distancing. Restaurants also will be allowed to offer live music.

“Tennesseans have worked hard to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our state, and their efforts have allowed us to continue to reopen our economy further,” Gov. Bill Lee said. “These guidelines share best practices to ensure our state’s businesses can continue to operate in a way that protects customers and employees while putting people back to work.”

And, of course, the move to reopen the state so quickly has caught a lot of heat from Democrats. Is that really surprising? This whole shutdown thing has given them an opportunity to try out socialism, and while it’s failing miserably, they don’t want to let go of this opportunity to pass as much liberal nonsense into law possible before its over.

They were really hoping this would be the tragic event that would push everything over the edge and force a radical transformation of America from a constitutional republic into a nanny state. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Guess they’ll just have to stop sharpening their fangs for awhile and accept the reality that no one in this country with half a brain wants what they keep trying to sell.
