He was the first sitting GOP Rep. to call for President Trump’s impeachment.

Here’s the story…and 45’s loving it…

Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.) on Thursday announced he’s leaving the Republican Party and becoming an independent, months after igniting a political firestorm when he became the first sitting GOP congressman to call for an impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

“Today, I am declaring my independence and leaving the Republican Party,” Amash wrote in a Fourth of July op-ed for The Washington Post. “No matter your circumstance, I’m asking you to join me in rejecting the partisan loyalties and rhetoric that divide and dehumanize us. I’m asking you to believe that we can do better than this two-party system — and to work toward it. If we continue to take America for granted, we will lose it.”

Trump’s reaction to “loser” Amash’s announcement:

Great news for the Republican Party as one of the dumbest & most disloyal men in Congress is “quitting” the Party. No Collusion, No Obstruction! Knew he couldn’t get the nomination to run again in the Great State of Michigan. Already being challenged for his seat. A total loser!

Amash has been hammered by Republicans and praised by liberals for saying President Trump should be impeached.

A pro-Trump state representative has now decided to challenge Amash for his seat.

What’s interesting is that Amash is now saying there’s a chance he could even run for president in 2020.

What will this guy say next!?

From The Hill:

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Tuesday said he would not rule out a third-party challenge to President Trump in 2020.

The Hill asked Amash if he is thinking about leaving the Republican Party to run for president as the Libertarian Party candidate.

Amash noted, “I’m just focused on defending the Constitution, it’s not something I’ve thought about. I don’t take things off the table like that, but it’s not something at the forefront of my considerations right now. I’m just focused on my job. I wouldn’t take running for governor off the table or Senate or statehouse, I don’t take things off the table.

His tweets:

Here are my principal conclusions:
1. Attorney General Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller’s report.
2. President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct.
3. Partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances.
4. Few members of Congress have read the report.

I offer these conclusions only after having read Mueller’s redacted report carefully and completely, having read or watched pertinent statements and testimony, and having discussed this matter with my staff, who thoroughly reviewed materials and provided me with further analysis.

In comparing Barr’s principal conclusions, congressional testimony, and other statements to Mueller’s report, it is clear that Barr intended to mislead the public about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s analysis and findings.

Barr’s misrepresentations are significant but often subtle, frequently taking the form of sleight-of-hand qualifications or logical fallacies, which he hopes people will not notice.

Under our Constitution, the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” While “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” is not defined, the context implies conduct that violates the public trust.

Contrary to Barr’s portrayal, Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment.

In fact, Mueller’s report identifies multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice, and undoubtedly any person who is not the president of the United States would be indicted based on such evidence.

Impeachment, which is a special form of indictment, does not even require probable cause that a crime (e.g., obstruction of justice) has been committed; it simply requires a finding that an official has engaged in careless, abusive, corrupt, or otherwise dishonorable conduct.

While impeachment should be undertaken only in extraordinary circumstances, the risk we face in an environment of extreme partisanship is not that Congress will employ it as a remedy too often but rather that Congress will employ it so rarely that it cannot deter misconduct.

Our system of checks and balances relies on each branch’s jealously guarding its powers and upholding its duties under our Constitution. When loyalty to a political party or to an individual trumps loyalty to the Constitution, the Rule of Law—the foundation of liberty—crumbles.

We’ve witnessed members of Congress from both parties shift their views 180 degrees—on the importance of character, on the principles of obstruction of justice—depending on whether they’re discussing Bill Clinton or Donald Trump.

Few members of Congress even read Mueller’s report; their minds were made up based on partisan affiliation—and it showed, with representatives and senators from both parties issuing definitive statements on the 448-page report’s conclusions within just hours of its release.

America’s institutions depend on officials to uphold both the rules and spirit of our constitutional system even when to do so is personally inconvenient or yields a politically unfavorable outcome. Our Constitution is brilliant and awesome; it deserves a government to match it.

Democrat Governor Frees 8,000 Inmates Over COVID-19, But Bans Singing In Churches

Priorities?

Once again, the Golden State continues to lead the nation in crazy. Thanks to radically far-left Governor Gavin Newsom, 8,000 prisoners will be freed due to spikes in coronavirus – which most likely stem from increased testing and Black Lives Matter riots, where police officers are treated like animals. Newsom has no problem banning singing in church, though. From KPIX 5: The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) on Friday said it estimates 8,000 currently incarcerated persons could be eligible for release by end of August under release authority granted to the CDCR Secretary allowing alternative confinement or release in any case in which an emergency endangering the lives of incarcerated persons has occurred or is imminent. The 8,000 inmates to be released are in addition to the state’s reduction of about 10,000 inmates since the start of the pandemic. Jay Jordan, the executive director of Californians for Safety and Justice, noted: “We’re glad the Governor is taking action to release more people. This is absolutely critical for the health and safety of every Californian. Too many people are incarcerated for too long in facilities that spread poor health. Supporting the health and safety of all Californians means releasing people unnecessarily incarcerated and transforming our justice system.” Regarding church, via Fox News: Faith leaders are speaking out after California Gov. Gavin Newsom banned singing and chanting in houses of worship last week due to a surge in coronavirus cases following weeks of protests. “Places of worship must, therefore, discontinue singing and chanting activities and limit indoor attendance to 25 percent of building capacity or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower,” the new guidelines read as state health officials recommend churches have members sing online from their homes. Roger Stone Will Not Serve Prison Time, Has Sentence Commuted By POTUS Trump

Freedom!

Liberals are going to have a field day with this one. Then again, they generally go bananas for anything and everything “Trump,” so this will just be more gas on the fire. As of late Friday evening, longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone learned that he won’t be serving time in the big house. From Fox News: Tucker Carlson lauded President Trump’s commutation of longtime Republican political consultant Roger Stone’s prison sentence Friday, saying the 67-year-old had been the victim of a “nakedly political” set-up aimed to put him away for the rest of his “useful and expected life.” Stone was to report to prison Tuesday on charges of witness tampering and making false statements in connection to the Mueller investigation of alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. Carlson said, “His arrest and his trial were nakedly political. It was a set-up. The presiding judge, a political activist called Amy Berman Jackson, issued a gag order that prohibited Stone from defending himself in public or making a living. She bankrupted him as a result.” Here’s the letter from the White House: California Congressman Eric Swalwell’s (D) 2020 presidential campaign lasted a solid five minutes. Even he probably knew he didn’t stand a chance. But that hasn’t stopped the radically far-left liberal from saying some very, very silly things. Swalwell knows the lines he’s supposed to parrot and does it well – or, at least, well enough. He’s just not the most likable of characters. In February, the Democrat suggested a new plan his peers might hatch in order to take down the duly-elected president of the United States.
