Trump Goes There: Overtly Threatens National Emergency if Dems Can’t Cooperate

Dangling the polarizing decree in front of the defiant democrats, Trump has drawn his final line in the sand.

National Emergency

The long and arduous fight over the southern border and its security looks to be reaching a pinnacle this week, and the President is ready to plant his flag on the peak.

After last night’s dueling speeches regarding border security and the government shutdown, President Trump and his democratic opponents both looked ready to dig in and drag this government shutdown well into 2019.

Many believed that the President’s address to the nation, his first from inside the Oval Office, would include a declaration of a National Emergency – something that would allow Trump to utilize the military to secure the border.  Instead, we heard a great deal about the obvious humanitarian crisis – something that blackface-donning comedians and other democrats have been scoffing at despite the deaths of at least two children who were forced to make the treacherous journey by their parents.

Today, however, the President inched much closer to making that polarizing decree.

President Trump on Wednesday said he may declare a national emergency to circumvent Congress and build a border wall if spending talks fail, raising the stakes for negotiations set to resume later in the day.
“I think we might work a deal, and if we don’t we might go that route,” Trump told reporters during a bill signing in the Oval Office.
The president said he has the “absolute right” to declare an emergency, even though some legal scholars and Democratic lawmakers say he does not.
Trump added that his “threshold” for declaring a national emergency is if he cannot reach a deal with congressional Democrats, who have rejected his demand for $5.7 billion for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Trump will get his wall, one way or another it seems.  It is now up to the democrats to engage in as much damage control as they possibly can.

“Bias Response Teams” are Nullifying The First Amendment at Portland State

When free speech dies, so too does America herself.

first amendment

A terrifying new authority has arrived on the campus of Portland State, and their purpose is to police the language used anywhere on the property. The idea is simple enough:  If you or one of your colleagues finds yourself either offended, or concerned that someone else could be offended, by something that just occurred on campus, you can call the “Bias Response Team” to come “investigate”…or whatever it is that they do. Yes, this is a real thing, and not some dystopian, concept-opinion piece I’m trying out. Members of the campus community at Portland State better think twice about making a joke on campus — it could very well lead to their names being reported to the university’s bias response team. Two bias reports filed at the public institution last fall were against people making jokes or similar off-hand comments on campus, according to documents obtained by The College Fix through a public records act request. Just how bad were the jokes? In one case from last September, a student overheard someone in their classroom making a comment about sometimes feeling like they having schizophrenia. “She then stated she was not trying to make fun of schizophrenia,” the student reported, “but that sometimes she can be ‘schizophrenic.’ … She stated this in a joking manner and even laughed about it.” Now let’s look to the future, when you are perhaps looking for a job, or perhaps a career in politics, and your “bias response team” report finds its way to Wikileaks.  Now, instead of focusing on who stands before you today, you are either tainted by or forced to spend time explaining the situation that led to your being included in such a wildly subjective, yet somehow serious report. Worse still is that comedy is one of the last real safe harbors for free speech…

Americans are Turning Away from Mainstream Media’s Monsters

This media malady has maintained course for too long, and the American people are growing tired of it.

mainstream media

The division that we see in our current society is unacceptable, but the loud, crashing, rapid fire mortars of the mainstream media have us so disorientated that we cannot see it. At any time of the day, you could turn on the television and watch two grown adults shout at each other over politics.  There are channel after channel devoted to this very idea; that we can induce catharsis living vicariously through the talking heads on the television. At times, it is even barbaric.  There are nuclear moments that go viral, adding fuel to this fire of fervor and frenzy.  Then, these snippets get snatched out of context and weaponized on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It has put us all at each other’s throats, and that is not what this great nation is all about. This media malady has maintained course for too long, and the American people are growing tired of it. A new poll shows trouble for the figurative tip of the mainstream media spear, CNN. Last place CNN’s already humiliating ratings nosedived by double digits last week. Even more than usual, some ten days ago the far-left CNN launched a 24/7 jihad against President Trump, going so far as to question his mental health, his patriotism, blaming him for a mass murder in New Zealand, and serial lying about his response to Charlottesville. But this unhinged hate campaign obviously turned off a considerable number of Americans. When compared to this same week last year, CNN lost -16 percent of its primetime viewers and -17 of total day viewers; young people ran away screaming: In the advertiser-coveted 25-54 age demo, CNN shed an incredible -31 percent of those viewers during primetime and -29 percent in total day. Even more telling still are the metrics available to us that compare CNN to their rival…
