Trump Notches Another Endorsement Win in 2022 Primaries

As the 2022 midterms continue to march toward us from just over the political horizon, there is plenty of speculation occurring as to just what sort of role Donald Trump may play in all of this.

Trump is, very likely, the most influential Republican on the planet, and, as such, could be the key to not only the “red wave” heading toward both chambers of Congress in the coming months, but also to the 2024 presidential contest.

This week, his influence was felt in The Mountain State.

Rep. Alex Mooney is projected by the Associated Press as the winner in the GOP congressional primary in West Virginia’s 2nd District in a battle with fellow Republican Rep. David McKinley.

And while former President Donald Trump wasn’t on the ballot, his prestige within the GOP was very much on the line in a bitter contest between two incumbent lawmakers, as Trump had endorsed Mooney.

The former President was quick to put an exclamation point, (or three) on the news.

“I Love West Virginia. Congratulations to Alex Mooney on his BIG WIN!!!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

This makes Trump 2-for-3 in endorsed candidate primary wins in recent days, and that likely has some of the Democratic Party beginning to worry about what’s coming down the pike.
