Trump Privately Perturbed at Florida Governor Due to 2024 Narrative
It won’t be long before the 2022 midterms come and go, and the only focus within the mainstream media will turn toward the big one; the 2024 presidential race.
At this point, and with the Democratic Party completely floundering despite their slim majority in the entirety of the Legislative Branch, the 2022 contest looks to be the GOP’s to lose. Of course, a balanced government doesn’t bode well for the Biden agenda in the second half of his first term, and thus doesn’t look good for the 2024 election either.
On the right side of the aisle, the nomination is likely Donald Trump’s to lose…but, apparently, the Republican figurehead is growing annoyed at those who refuse to publicly recognize that.
Former President Donald Trump is said to be furious that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a rising star in Republican politics, won’t publicly rule himself out of a bid for the 2024 presidency if Trump decides to stand.
Politico’s Playbook newsletter reported on Friday that Trump had been complaining to members and guests at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida that DeSantis hasn’t joined other potential rivals in making a public declaration that he won’t run for president in 2024 if Trump decides to.
The situation appears testy.
Politico wrote that Trump told advisors that DeSantis had privately told him that he wouldn’t run if Trump does, “but that’s not enough for the former president – he wants DeSantis to say it in public.”
DeSantis has been raising his national profile as of late, leading many to believe that the Sunshine State lawmaker was looking to take a stab at the 2024 race regardless of Trump’s decision.
