As the midterms approach, the Biden administration has been providing former President Donald Trump with plenty on figurative ammunition for the coming political battle.
The FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, for instance, which had leftists painting Trump as some sort of thief or foreign asset, while the right realized that the FBI and DOJ had now been exposed as political weapons of the Democratic Party.
Now, as Trump continued to push back against this ludicrous assault on his personal character, his Truth Social app has been pulled from the Google app store.
Truth Social, the would-be Twitter competitor created by Trump Media and Technology Group, remains unavailable on the Google Play store.
Google said the app lacks effective systems for moderating user-generated content, which violates the store’s terms of service.
Google’s response suggested that they were concerned about Truth Social’s moderation abilities.
“On Aug. 19, we notified Truth Social of several violations of standard policies in their current app submission and reiterated that having effective systems for moderating user-generated content is a condition of our terms of service for any app to go live on Google Play,” the tech company, which is owned by Alphabet, told CNBC in a statement Tuesday.
With Google phone users making up 44% of the national cellular user pool, this means that access to Trump’s only remaining social media account could be cut nearly in half.
The timing of the decision, with the midterms and a potential attempted prosecution of Donald Trump in the offing, will likely feel purposeful to the MAGA Movement, whose trust in the mainstream media is already at a rather low point.
