US Marine Veteran Dies Fighting in Ukraine
The plethora of nuclear threats spewing forth from the Kremlin and its cronies has been enough to keep NATO and the western world from directly engaging with Russia as it illegally invades Ukraine. Direct combat between US military forces and Russian military forces would almost certainly lead to a larger, more pronounced and deadly conflict, which has forced those Americans willing to fight for Ukraine to do so as part of a vast international volunteer force.
This week, one such American, a former Marine veteran, was killed in action.
An American citizen and Marine veteran, Willy Joseph Cancel, died fighting alongside Ukrainian forces in Ukraine, the man’s widow confirmed to Fox News Digital early Friday morning.

Cancel leaves behind his wife and a 7-month-old son. He appears to be the first U.S. citizen to die while fighting alongside Ukrainians in Ukraine.
The widow continued…
“My husband was very brave and a hero,” Cancel said. “I did not expect to be a widow at 23 years old or for our son to be without a father. All I want is for him to come home, and to give him the proper burial he deserves.”
Cancel had been fighting in Ukraine for nearly a month and a half when he was killed.
