VIDEO: AOC Pretends to be Handcuffed After SCOTUS Protest
For as long as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been in the national political scene, one thing has been certain: The New York Democrat sure loves attention.
It seems to be her only real political weapon, given that her extreme leftist viewpoints aren’t jibing with the Biden administration in any meaningful way, and much of the rest of her party has come to realize her agenda isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
And so AOC tends to act as a liberal advocate more than she acts as an elected official. This ethos saw the House Rep. arrested this week while protesting at the Supreme Court. And while this attention is certainly something she was looking for, apparently the optics of her arrest weren’t what she was hoping for.
Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was roundly mocked on social media Tuesday after she put her arms behind her back to imitate being handcuffed following her arrest at a pro-abortion demonstration outside the Supreme Court.
The Bronx and Queens Democratic lawmaker was gently escorted away by a Capitol Police officer — along with fellow city Rep. Carolyn Maloney — after blocking traffic outside the court building.
The whole scene was strictly goofy.
AOC kept up the charade of being restrained for a few steps before raising her fist to supporters watching from the sidewalk. She then crossed her wrists behind her back again in the faux handcuffed position.
Video of the ostensibly silly moment can be seen below:

Ocasio-Cortez attempted to justify her charade by suggesting this is the “best practice” for being detained, but it didn’t appear as though many Twitter users were in agreement.
