As Sen. Ted Cruz was walking through an airport on Tuesday, he was greeted by two angry female hecklers who decided now was the perfect time to verbally accost him with criticism over his support of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing, apparently being totally unable to move on from this incident.
As the women attacked him for standing on his principles, Cruz, ever the class act, responded in the most perfect way possible. He thanked them for expressing their First Amendment rights and walked off like a boss.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you handle hecklers.
The exchange that was caught on video started with Cruz asserting, “It’s a victory for women in America.”
The first female heckler snapped, “You think that putting a sexual assaulter on the court is a victory for women? You believe in men assaulting women. That’s what your whole custom is, Senator.”
Cruz tried to educate the woman: “I believe in due process.”
The woman, who apparently doesn’t understand that the necessity of corroborative evidence in order for due process to function properly, answered, “You believe in due process? Lots of women were out there talking about their stories.”
The second female heckler chimed in with another spurious claim regarding Kavanaugh: “Do you believe in a man lying about his alcohol in front of the Senate and perjury? Do you believe in perjury?”
Cruz, who was not about to take the hours needed to explain the niceties of law to the women, replied politely, “Thank you for expressing your First Amendment Rights.”
The second heckler, becoming more unhinged: “So why do you support a man who abuses women? Shame on you, Ted Cruz!”
Cruz, politely: “God bless you, ma’am.”
The second heckler decided this was a great time to try out a brand new mantra so she immediately started shouting “Shame on you, Ted Cruz!” over and over right now.
Here’s a video of the incident:

Sen. Ted Cruz is a man who understands the Constitution better than probably just about anyone else in Congress. After all, the man has the whole document memorized, which is incredibly impressive.
On top of that, he truly gets the importance of due process, which is a critical right of all Americans. We can’t simply allow people to be tossed in prison based solely on allegations. There needs to be proof. In the case of Brett Kavanaugh, there was no evidence to substantiate the claims being made against him, thus, he was confirmed.
