American pastor Andrew Brunson was finally released after two years of confinement in Turkey, news which was celebrated by Americans and Christians from all over, including President Trump.

Brunson met with Trump recently in the Oval Office where he asked the president if he could pray for him. How Trump responded is just  perfect.

When Brunson told the man who had worked to free him from the oppressive Turkish regime that he and his wife often pray for him and asked to do so now, Trump replied, “Well, I need it probably more than anyone else in this room. So that would be very nice, thank you.”

Brunson then kneeled down and put his left hand on Trump’s right shoulder.

“Lord God, I ask that you pour out your Holy Spirit on President Trump, that you give him supernatural wisdom to accomplish all the plans you have for this country and for him,” said the freed pastor. “I ask that you give him wisdom in how to lead this country into righteousness. I ask that you give him perseverance, and endurance and courage to stand for truth. I ask that you to protect him from slander from enemies, from those who would undermine. I ask that you make him a great blessing to this country. Fill him with your wisdom and strength and perseverance. And we bless him. May he be a great blessing to our country. In Jesus’ name, we bless you. Amen.”

His wife then added her prayer: “I just want to pray that the Spirit of the Lord would rest on the president, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord.”

This is truly awesome.

Whether or not you like President Trump or agree with his policies, if you’re a follower of Jesus Christ, you need to be praying for your leaders often. These are the folks in charge of making major decisions that impact our lives on a daily basis. We need them to be wise, moral, and upright, even if they aren’t that way currently.

As we all know, God can and does change hearts, minds, and souls. Every elected official needs prayer, even the Democrats. Maybe especially the Democrats!

Keep that in mind, fellow believers.
