Vlad Putin to be Poisoned and Replaced, Say Intel Insiders
The world at large has long understood that Vladimir Putin was a horrid and abjectly tyrannical monster, but Russia did not. The former KGB agent had spent much of his formative political time bolstering the already-dense firewall of the Russian intelligence services and the media, to the point in which the national narrative was strictly controlled by the Kremlin.
Ergo, the Russian citizens’ opinions on their leader are whatever their leader wants them to be.
But now, as the invasion of Ukraine continues to expose the weaknesses of the Kremlin, there are reports that Russian insiders are planning a violent coup.
Kremlin insiders are plotting to remove Vladimir Putin by poisoning him, a Ukrainian intelligence body has claimed.
According to the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, a “group of influential” members of the “Russian elite” have hatched a plan aimed at toppling the president.
The goal of this group is to remove Putin from power as soon as possible and restore economic ties with the West.
According to the intelligence brief, the powerful insiders are dismayed at the impact the war and subsequent sanctions have had on the Russian economy.
They’ve even chosen the potential replacement.
The Ukrainian intelligence service claims that a successor to Putin has already been chosen in the form of FSB director Oleksandr Bortnikov.
Of course, the lack of openly-admitted sources leaves quite a bit to desire, particularly as we’ve seen both sides of this Ukrainian conflict attempt to play the media like a fiddle over the last several days.
