WATCH IT: Amazon Robot Traps Employee in Warehouse

Is the rise of the machines upon us?!

Published

We’ve all heard the jokes and the cynicism about some mythical, inevitable “takeover” of the planet by robotic forces made sentient by wild advances in artificial intelligence, but it’s often just hypothetical funny stuff.  We don’t often find human actually outsmarted by our “smart” appliances or any sort of robots.

Honestly, the creepiest thing that most of us have to deal with is the fact that we can be discussing something aloud only to discover a few moments later that our smartphones were listening in and are now pushing advertisements our way.

But one Amazon employee got a frightening glimpse into this hypothetical future after they were trapped by robots on the warehouse floor.

An Amazon employee apparently became trapped by robot shelves when he was working on the warehouse floor.

The employee shared the experience on TikTok under the username Robotman77 and the video has gained over 700,000 views.

“The robots at work trap me…it took me like 15 minutes to get out,” the TikToker wrote with the text overlay. The video shows him walking around the warehouse as shelves get moved in his path.

“They tried to block me in. These pods are messing with me,” he says in the video as one of the shelves moves once again.

No one was injured in the bizarre incident, but the TikTok user’s video soon went viral.

You can witness the strange moment below:
