WATCH IT: Mammoth Moose Charges Colorado Hiker

This video has to be seen to be believed.

The great swaths of wilderness that stripe our nation are both awe-inspiring and demanding of our respect, for around each twist of the trail, a new threat could be lurking.

Venomous snakes.  Bears.  Wolves and big cats.  There are no shortage of creatures that can turn a good day into your last, but one of the most dangerous of our outdoor threats comes not from a carnivore, but from the almighty moose.

In parts of the country where moose don’t live, there appears to be an ill-conceived perception of the creatures as gentle forest dwellers who lazily chomp on grass in between getting shot at by trophy hunters.  Also, in these moose-less parts of the country, some seem to think of these animals as slightly larger than your average White Tail Deer.  This is simply not true.

Furthermore, there’s nothing “gentle” about moose.  In fact, these are some of the more aggressive animals that you’ll find in their ecosystems, and they certainly aren’t afraid of people…as one frightened Colorado hiker found out.

A jaw-dropping video from Colorado shows the moment when a massive bull moose suddenly decided to charge at a hiker who had stumbled upon the enormous creature in the woods. The wild scene was shared on social media by Colorado Parks and Wildlife, who used the incident as something of a cautionary tale about approaching wild animals in their natural habitat. “This video shows what can happen when you are too close to a bull moose,” they wrote, “and how quickly they can decide to charge on you.”

The department’s post went on to explain that the person behind the camera “came upon the bull while walking along a willow bottom heading towards a lake in Clear Creek County.” The awestruck individual apparently then pulled out their cell phone and began filming the creature, which was largely obscured behind a tree, from only a few feet away. Although the scene seems peaceful at first, as soon the moose appears to catch sight of the hiker, it quickly drops its head and charges towards the camera.

The video has to be seen to be believed.

Thankfully, the quick thinking hiker was able to duck behind a tree, into which the irate bull rammed, ringing his own bell and sauntering off.

In the Golden State, things are heating up, and life may never be the same because of it.

A number of major wildfires have been burning in California for months now, with a terrifying uptick in trouble coming in just the last few weeks.  This included the spreading of the Caldor Fire, which threatened to completely decimate the gorgeous Lake Tahoe tourism hub.

Now, in the southern part of the state, another major fire has forced authorities to close a massive swatch of an important freeway.

A wildfire near Castaic Saturday has led to the closure of a part of a major freeway in Southern California, officials told local media.

The fire, known as the Route Fire, reached 392 acres, or a little more than half a square mile, as of 6:28 p.m. and forced the shutdown of a section of Interstate 5, the Angeles National Forest told KTLA-TV.

KTLA reported that the Route Fire is threatening structures, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Valley station.

The fire was uncontained as of 6:30 p.m., authorities said.

Images of the terrifying development were spreading on social media over the weekend.

Thankfully, some rain had moved into the area over the weekend, helping crews in other parts of the state work to contain a number of other wildfires.

VIDEO: Tennessee Authorities Spooked by Mystery Explosion

Despite being flooded with 911 call, authorities are still stumped.

Published

When it’s all said and done, historians will look at this period in time as one of the strangest of all, especially for those of us living in the United States.

Of course, there’s the COVID-19 pandemic, which continues to infiltrate every facet of our daily lives, like an oppressive hum that you just can’t shake, rattling your skull at times, and being a minor inconvenience at other times.

On top of that viral hum there were the shouts and screams of America’s political upheaval, and the hisses of the mace cans during her racial reckoning.

And then there was buzzing of the “murder hornets” and the other, louder buzzing of “Brood X” cicadas.

This week, there was the booming of, well…something in the skies over Tennessee.

Authorities in Tennessee spent hours searching for the source of what residents reported as a “loud explosion” and shaking ground.

In a Facebook post, the Clarksville Police Department wrote on Sunday that its 911 dispatch had received numerous calls at around 9:50 p.m. local time on Saturday regarding the “loud explosion” and that several individuals had also said they had felt the “ground shake.”

The mystery had authorities stumped.

“The sound was heard across many parts of Montgomery County but there have been no reports of any injuries or property damage. The Clarksville Police Department, Fire Department, Montgomery County Sheriffs Office and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) searched for a couple of hours but were unable to locate the source.,” the department wrote.

“Fort Campbell is on a Four Day weekend due to the Labor Day holiday, and does not appear to be conducting any type of training or exercise,” the police added. “Currently, this seems to be some sort of unknown phenomena until someone reports actual damage.”

Home security video showed that the noise was accompanied by a bright flash of light as well.

Possible explanations that have been posited thus far include the possibility of a sonic boom from a meteor entering our atmosphere, to some locals playing around with a high explosive such as tannerite.
