World’s Most Valuable Company Invests in New York, Makes Ocasio-Cortez Furious

This is liberalism at its finest.

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not at all happy about, Amazon, arguably the most valuable and important company in the world investing in the city of New York.

Apparently there’s a problem with the idea of a company investing billions of dollars and creating 25,000 jobs in her city that just irks her to no end. After all, why would anyone want to see folks going back to work, providing for themselves and their families, and having a number of doors suddenly open to them, when they can have the government take care of them from cradle to grave?

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday:

New York City and Northern Virginia will be the homes for Amazon.com Inc.’s second and third headquarters, according to people familiar with the matter, ending a more than yearlong public contest that started with 238 candidates and ended with a surprise split of its so-called HQ2.

Amazon is dividing the second headquarters evenly between New York’s Long Island City and Arlington County’s Crystal City neighborhoods, which are both located directly across from the major city centers. The company plans to evenly split the offices with as many as 25,000 employees.

The decision effectively gives Amazon a major presence in three coastal hubs that politically lean left, at a time when tech companies are under scrutiny for their perceived elitism and liberal social views.

“Amazon is a billion-dollar company,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.”

Ocasio-Cortez provided no evidence that residents in her district were angered by Amazon’s decision. As for Amazon receiving tax breaks, the Journal only notes that the company’s decision to open additional headquarters “has brought additional scrutiny to potential incentives Amazon might receive to locate in certain areas.”

Like any good socialist, Ocasio-Cortez stated that she wants Amazon to “pay their fair share,” which is code word for “wealth redistribution.”

“Lastly, this isn’t just about one company or one headquarters. It’s about cost of living, corps paying their fair share, etc.,” she wrote. “It’s not about picking a fight, either. I was elected to advocate for our community’s interests – & they‘ve requested, clearly, to voice their concerns.”

How sad is it that instead of seeing this as a fantastic opportunity for the folks who live in her local community, providing them with much needed economic stimulation, she sees it as a greedy corporation — that she herself probably uses — coming to take advantage of the less fortunate.

This is the kind of warped mindset that leftism produces and when applied to the real world, it can cause some serious damage.

Washington Post Writer Says Journalists Need To Persuade Citizens To Support Trump Impeachment

As the day and time draws near for the House of Representatives to vote on articles of impeachment, which are being drafted now, against President Trump, much of what the public thinks about this whole situation hasn’t changed all that much since before the public hearings began. Which is precisely why Washington Post columnist Margaret Sullivan is calling on journalists to try and find better ways to change hearts and minds on the issue and persuade Americans to get on board with booting the president. Here’s more from TheBlaze: “Despite the hardened positions, some members of the public are still uncertain,” Sullivan writes. “Some are persuadable, and yes, it matters. Maybe, just maybe, it’s the job of American journalism in this moment to get serious about trying to reach these citizens.” Sullivan notably does not take an overt position regarding whether people need to be persuaded for or against impeachment. The closest she comes to that is when she writes, “We do live in a country that abides by laws and a Constitution, and nobody ought to be above them.” “And far too often, those [television news] broadcasts fall prey to a false equivalency: This side said this, and this side said that, and we don’t want to make anyone mad, so we’ve got to cut to commercial now,” Sullivan writes. Sullivan speaks against “epistemological nihilism,” a term coined by New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg to describe the “long-term Republican strategy” of saying that there are no set facts or truth, something stated by House Judiciary Committee ranking member Doug Collins (R-Ga.) during Wednesday’s hearing. So what, exactly, does Sullivan purpose to help win folks over? How about a “movie trailer” kind of approach which takes big chunks of the impeachment narrative and condenses it into a “targeted, well-informed…

Working in the public sector is not supposed to make people rich. For example, Barack and Michelle Obama were certainly not extremely well-off before Barry became president. But thanks to all the book deals and Netflix deals and this and this and that, the Obamas now live quite a comfortable lifestyle thanks largely to Barack’s time serving the American people. Ain’t that something? You can cripple a nation for nearly a decade, trash her, disparage her at every turn, and still wind up with millions beyond your wildest dreams!? God bless, America. From Daily Wire: The former President and First Lady received the keys to their new mega-home which occupies 29 acres of beachfront property. […] The house was originally listed for $14,850,000 but TMZ reports the Obamas managed to obtain a huge discount and secured the 6,900sq ft home for $11.75 million. PHOTOS: Most first lady’s don’t remain as active as Michelle after leaving the White House. The reason is simple: nobody cares what they have to say. Predictably, Obama doesn’t understand that. She appears to desperately need the attention. Check out the clip below where Michelle goes on NBC’s “Tonight Show” and mocks First Lady Melania Trump for bringing her a gift on Donald Trump’s inauguration day… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEkMp6J0YIM#action=share Of course, Michelle gifted Laura Bush on Barack’s inauguration day. Did she forget about that? Just attacking Melania to be cool and edgy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9Vw7Mx21A0#action=share During an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, Obama admitted she was at first skeptical of Barack. The reason? Because white people liked him. Roberts: “You– you weren’t overly impressed in the beginning?” Michelle: “I– I wasn’t, you know? I have my suspicions when a bunch of white folks fawn on over a black man ’cause I sorta think, ‘Okay, he can talk straight so they think…
