World’s Most Valuable Company Invests in New York, Makes Ocasio-Cortez Furious

This is liberalism at its finest.

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not at all happy about, Amazon, arguably the most valuable and important company in the world investing in the city of New York.

Apparently there’s a problem with the idea of a company investing billions of dollars and creating 25,000 jobs in her city that just irks her to no end. After all, why would anyone want to see folks going back to work, providing for themselves and their families, and having a number of doors suddenly open to them, when they can have the government take care of them from cradle to grave?

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday:

New York City and Northern Virginia will be the homes for Amazon.com Inc.’s second and third headquarters, according to people familiar with the matter, ending a more than yearlong public contest that started with 238 candidates and ended with a surprise split of its so-called HQ2.

Amazon is dividing the second headquarters evenly between New York’s Long Island City and Arlington County’s Crystal City neighborhoods, which are both located directly across from the major city centers. The company plans to evenly split the offices with as many as 25,000 employees.

The decision effectively gives Amazon a major presence in three coastal hubs that politically lean left, at a time when tech companies are under scrutiny for their perceived elitism and liberal social views.

“Amazon is a billion-dollar company,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “The idea that it will receive hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks at a time when our subway is crumbling and our communities need MORE investment, not less, is extremely concerning to residents here.”

Ocasio-Cortez provided no evidence that residents in her district were angered by Amazon’s decision. As for Amazon receiving tax breaks, the Journal only notes that the company’s decision to open additional headquarters “has brought additional scrutiny to potential incentives Amazon might receive to locate in certain areas.”

Like any good socialist, Ocasio-Cortez stated that she wants Amazon to “pay their fair share,” which is code word for “wealth redistribution.”

“Lastly, this isn’t just about one company or one headquarters. It’s about cost of living, corps paying their fair share, etc.,” she wrote. “It’s not about picking a fight, either. I was elected to advocate for our community’s interests – & they‘ve requested, clearly, to voice their concerns.”

How sad is it that instead of seeing this as a fantastic opportunity for the folks who live in her local community, providing them with much needed economic stimulation, she sees it as a greedy corporation — that she herself probably uses — coming to take advantage of the less fortunate.

This is the kind of warped mindset that leftism produces and when applied to the real world, it can cause some serious damage.

Trouble In Paradise? Ilhan Omar Just Got Super Bad News About Her District

Uh, oh Spaghetti-Os!

Published

No one’s favorite congresswoman, Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has earned a reputation as an anti-Semite for her negative comments toward Israel and Jewish people, just got some very bad news about her district. According to a new report from financial website, 24/7 Wall Street, Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District is the worst congressional district in the entire country for black people. Uh oh. That’s not going to look too good on the progressive candidate checklist, is it? via TheBlaze: Researchers studied several key metrics using data from the U.S. Census Bureau: cost of living-adjusted median household income, unemployment and poverty rates, educational attainment, and homeownership rates. The data showed that Omar’s district has the greatest socioeconomic disparities between black and white Americans of any congressional district in the U.S. “Black area residents are about four times more likely to live below the poverty line than white residents and three times more likely to be unemployed. Disparate outcomes along racial lines in the district are largely the legacy of historic racism,” the study said. “Minneapolis is one of several Midwestern cities that enacted restrictive housing covenants and exclusionary zoning policies in the early 20th century. These policies impact residential patterns to this day.” Here’s the real kicker that’ll send liberals into hysterics. Each of the five worst districts for black Americans is represented by a Democrat. It actually gets worse than that. As it turns out, 25 out of 30 the worst congressional districts for blacks are run by liberals. Ouch. That pretty much explodes the narrative that Democrats are the party of the poor and marginalized, doesn’t it? Adding insult to injury, the vast majority of the nation’s most segregated cities are located within these districts. So, tell us again, Mr. Liberal, why in the world would we want you to…

Mayor Gets Pulverized After Posting Ridiculously Thoughtless Tweet In Wake Of Portland Violence

Oh look. Nero playing the fiddle why Rome burns.

Just hours after violent rioting exploded in the city of Portland, Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler posted the most oblivious photograph ever to the Internet, featuring him and his wife, peacefully strolling through the city hand-in-hand as if nothing is going down in his burned out burg. This has led to massive pushback from folks all across the political spectrum, with many calling for Wheeler to step down from office. Honestly, that might not be a bad idea, seeing as how he’s done nothing to put radical left-wing group Antifa in check. via Daily Wire: https://twitter.com/tedwheeler/status/1163209418487394305 “Saturdays in Portland,” however, are a lot different. The day before Mayor Ted Wheeler’s post, Antifa activists targeted journalists and went after protesters, some of whom were members of the right-wing Proud Boys. Below is some of the ugly footage posted by journalist and Quilette editor Andy Ngo and others which has been conveniently ignored by Mr. Wheeler: https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1162833952190582785 https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1162901699318517761 https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1162828409367515139 https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1162844384141832192 The tweet from Mayor Wheeler, unsurprisingly, was ripped online for its oblivious nature. Twitter users, some claiming to live in Portland, pointed to the violent protesting in the city and Portland’s severe homelessness crisis. According to Portland Monthly, 2018 figures estimated 14,476 homeless people reside in the city. https://twitter.com/JNCassavetes/status/1163279121847222272 https://twitter.com/jtLOL/status/1163428604581220354 https://twitter.com/RedTails944/status/1163305483018465281 https://twitter.com/NeilAxelrod/status/1163309474125361152 https://twitter.com/belleofva/status/1163227272930873345 Seems Mayor Wheeler is just a tad bit out of touch with what’s happening in his city. Homelessness, massive violence and rioting, civil unrest. Hardly seems like an ideal time to post a picture of a peaceful stroll through the city. It’s like Nero watching Rome burn and playing the fiddle. The city could definitely use new leadership, perhaps someone with a more sensible approach to dealing with this sort of thing?
